The Ice Box Murders
One of the most bizarre cases yet are those of the Ice Box Murders of Fred and Edwina Rogers. in Houston, Texas, on the day of June 23rd 1965, the elderly couple nephew, Marvin raised concerns after there was no response to his phone calls. The police complied when Marvin request that they check in on the couple. When the police arrived at the house, the doors were locked, however then forced their way in. The dinner has food left out, so the police decided to check the fridge. Nothing seem out of the ordinary, just numerous cuts of meat that had been placed on the shekels in neat stacks. As an officer looked down before closing the fridge door, he saw the Rodgers’ head in the vegetable crisper staring right back at him. It later turned out, the neatly stacked meat in the fridge was in fact the legs and torso of the Rogers’.
Investigators stated that a claw hammer must have been used to beat Fred Rogers to death along with having his eyes gouged out. They also determined that Edwina was shot in the head. The hacking of both bodies into pieces occurred in the bathroom before being places in the fridge. The house was eerily devoid of of blood, appearing to have been cleaned thoroughly. Even more mystifying, their sex organs were found to be thrown out in the sewer located outside the house and the remaining missing body parts were never recovered.
Among the case, there was the elderly couples’ 43 year old son whom was unemployed an apparently a hermit, Charles Frederick Rogers. He was evidently living with his parents in the attic bedroom, however neighbours reported that they never recall seeing him. The only signs of blood were drops which led to Charles’ attic room and his door keyhole which had traces of blood. Although, when the investigators enter the room, there was no one, he had just disappeared without a trace, and was legally declared dead in 1975 by the court. There was no telling who Charles was as he only seemed to communicate to his parent through the fashion of writing notes and slipping them under the door and never having the impression of interacting with any other actual human beings.
